CANA HALL TOP TO BOTTOM
These notes and suggestions will come in very handy
especially if your Cana Hall is your venue.
Cana Hall is the standard venue for most SFA wedding receptions unless you're having a very small reception or there are two receptions booked on the same day. In that event either Clare Hall, Clare Hall basement, or Stewardship Hall may be your best choice.
Cana Hall measures approx. 65’ X 92’. Ceilings are 10’ tall. It comfortably accommodates up to 375 guests.
Your rental coordinator can provide you with a drawing of Cana Hall at your first meeting. This will contain room measurements, locations of electrical outlets and other very helpful information.
There are electrical outlets provided for your convenience at the top of each of the six room support pillars in Cana. These are invaluable to brides using ceiling and/or pillar lighting.
There are approximately (34) 60” round tables and (30) 8’ rectangular banquet tables in the Cana Hall storage room. Either style of table is designed to comfortably seat 8 guests.
If more than 250 guests are dining you should consider setting up your caterer’s tables in the school hallway located just outside the main doors to Cana Hall. Your caterer can park in the north parking lot and conveniently carry food items in through the main double door entrance to the school.
Invite 12+ people to help you decorate for your reception. It can easily be a 4 to 5 hour job. When school is in session your volunteers will fold up and roll the cafeteria tables into the hallway before decorating can begin. School posters may be removed from the wall(s) if a responsible person is appointed to replace them in their original spots after the conclusion of your reception. All tables, chairs and reception decor are set up by your decorating crew.
During the warm weather months it is extremely important you do not adjust the room thermostats down as this could cause the condenser to freeze up and all AC could be lost. Large floor fans provided by our janitors to circulate the air are also available to use for the asking.
Our SFA janitors will be happy to loan you one or two tall step ladders. Be sure to ask your rental coordinator to help you contact the janitor regarding their use.
There are no bathrooms in Cana Hall. Your guests may use the school’s restrooms located just outside the hall’s north doors; to the right.
Skirting rented from the Ladies Auxiliary may not be used at your bar. Plastic tablecloths and skirting are suggested for that area.
With regards to the kitchen area feel free to use the ample counter top space, ice machine, large double sink and the standard sized white parish refrigerator. If serving large quantities of canned beer, etc. please plan to compensate with large ice chests brought from home.
All ovens, grills, warmers, cooking pans, freezers, trays and cooking utensils are NOT available to you due to school cafeteria guidelines.
Please do NOT use the ice machine for refrigeration purposes. This will very likely compromise the cleanliness of the ice for you and your guests.
